Mixed Doubles
Production Date: March 2008
Directed by: Dudley Thompson
‘Mixed Doubles’ was first performed at the Hampstead Theatre Club in 1969. It portrays the trials and tribulations of marriage from the Church to the cemetery. The sketches are written by some of the leading playwrights of the sixties and are linked by monologues written by George Melly. The rebellious mood of ‘kitchen sink’ drama found in so many of the theatre production of the time is strongly echoed here by Melly's irreverent portrayal of the authority figures in his monologues. We have attempted to retain that period feel by the use of appropriate costumes and props.
